Monastery of the St. Archangel Michael, whose beautiful images are decorating the pages on most of the touristic guides, is one of the main attractions on the island and it is located on the top of a cliff at the south of the island. This monastery spiritually and administratively falls under Philotheou monastery on Mount Athos, Recently, this monastery has expanded with the magnificent new church. The monastery preserves an important relic, Holy wedge, that is one of the wedge with which Jesus was pierced at the crucifixion. The masses of believers are coming to the monastery every day throughout the year to pray and worship the holy relic.
