Beaches

On the eastern side of the island there is a small rocky area, a village Aliki. The first traces of history were set here in the 7th century BC.Even in that time, here was one hill - which was spread down in to the sea - this area is located between the marble quarries from 7 century BC at the southeast and the remains of two temples at the northeast . In the sacred temples you can see carved rocks on which believers were offering gifts to the gods. Trading with marble has flourished in this area. In period of ancient Greece, Roman and Byzantine empires, this port worked continuously, and it was an important place of trade and transport marble and marble products until 7 century BC, until enemy started to attack from the north.
